The development objective of the FSRP is to increase preparedness against food insecurity and improve the resilience of food system stakeholders in Chad.
The FSRP in Chad is being implemented in 2 blocks of the country: Two blocks of intervention zones have been selected: (i) the block
1, covering Kanem, Bahr Ghazal, Batha, Borkou, Ennedi East, Ennedi West, Tibesti and Wadi Fira.
Most of the interventions under components 1 and 2 will be implemented, given the importance of cross-border/regional coordination of locust control and intervention.

Chad chose the sesame, maize and wheat value chains for the following reasons: (i) Chad’s sesame is consumed in the region and exported to Nigeria, Cameroon, Niger and Benin; (ii) wheat production in Lake Chad could be shared with Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon and the Central African Republic.
Lake Chad could be shared with Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon and the Central African Republic; and (iii) maize produced in all the provinces of Block 2 could be traded with all the countries of West Africa for to ensure regional food security stocks contributing to regional food security.
